The Global Green Hospitality Consortium (GGHC) has launched a Carbon Credits Exchange Program (CCEP) for the hospitality industry in North America.
"So far 160 countries ratified the Kyoto agreement that set the global standards for Carbon Emission Reduction (CER). As a result, CER is increasingly becoming the most globally recognized measurement for sustainability and green energy initiatives" said Zacharie Mondel , the Chief Operating Officer of GGHC.
"More and more states, cities and communities in the US
are setting CER targets"
GGHC announced that it uses CER as a standard for its property and vendor certification.
"After all, how green your business, solution or property is, is really a function of the CER impact on the environment," said Kim Karch, Chief Marketing Officer. ?The words green and sustainable are grossly misused and misunderstood; it would be very helpful for all of us if we could to go the website of any hospitality establishment or solution provider and clearly see an independent, certified statement showing their CER contribution as a true indication of how green they really are.? continues Ms. Karch.
GGHC will award its hospitality establishment members carbon credits in conjunction with their sustainability and green energy certification as recognition for their commitment to the environment. Those credits can be used towards the purchase of additional sustainability and green energy services, products, or solutions offered by the GGHC. GGHC members will have several options available to them for donating carbon credits: GGHC fund for Green Neighborhoods initiative, GGHC's annual Global Sustainability and Green Award, or the charity of their choice.
Sustainability and green energy solutions certified by GGHC will carry a visible label showing their CER contribution and the number of carbon credits that the hospitality establishment can obtain by deploying or using that solution. GGHC's primary mission is to help hospitality establishments be very profitable while pursuing the goal of being green and sustainable? said Ron Kendig , Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications.
"Shortly, the Global Green Energy consortium (GGEC) will be rolling out several carbon credit exchange programs for industry segments such as IT, healthcare, retail, printing, pharmaceutical, transportation, and others." indicated Mr. Mondel. |
